OCCUPY LITTLETON GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Explanation of General Assembly and how it works; hand signals, giving everyone a change to talk by stacking, no interrupting, etc. Meeting Facilitator and Note Taker appointed. Introductions and reasons for coming to GA.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: COMING EVENTS SPONSORED BY OD AND OTHERS
OL Mission Statement on FB page.
Follow-up discussion on revisions to the OL Mission Statement on FB page. GA consensus was that our Mission Statement be constantly updated as circumstances and environment changes. For now, we will go with the revised Mission Statement worked out at GA of 1/15, as follows:
We have organized to give the 99% a voice against the dominance of corporations and money in our political discourse. We are committed to reasoned discourse and to non-violent tactics.
WORKING GROUPS:
Working Groups should be publically posted so people can sign up and see what’s going on.
Media Working Group. To develop flyers and general PR. Name tags for GA . Big OccupyLittleton banner for group events (Rally at Capitol on Friday). Betty will send out mass e-mail about OL and about 350.org rally on Friday.The first project will be to develop full size and 1/4 sheet posters/flyers to distribute at local high schools and ACC, as well as posting about town.
Communications Working Group: Develop an OL website, organize communications via FB, e-mail, create calendar to post events, both OL and other Occupy groups.
Decide on best ways for OL to communicate among its members and with other Occupations. E.G. Google groups, FB page, e-mail threads.
Corporate Personhood Proposal for Littleton City Council Working Group.
To develop strategies for presenting a proposal to Littleton City Council.
PROPOSED WORKING GROUPS FOR FUTURE:
On-line working group of people to suggest changes to mission statement
Community Service / Outreach working group. General education and teaching skills and strategies that will help the community counteract the corporate influence as well as enriching their lives. Also, to counteract the view of Occupy that is shaped and controlled by the mainstream media.
GA Notes:
Should be posted on our website. Should include numbers of people attending so we can track the growth of the group, but not names in the interest of individual’s privacy.
ACTIONS:
What the Frack! 350.org is sponsoring a rally on Friday, 1/27 at noon on the West Steps of the Capitol, about “dirty money”, eg oil. Proposed and passed unanimously that OL support the rally and show up with “official” Occupy Littleton banner.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY SCHEDULE:
For the immediate future the OL GA will be held on Sunday at 2PM. The Bemis Library Conference Room is reserved for one more week.
While the weather is cold, a suggested alternate indoor place is : Solid Grounds Coffee Shop on S. Broadway in Littleton.
We will move outdoors as soon as possible, so we can be visible and accessible to all.
